About the role
The position ensures external callers to the hospital are welcomed and redirected appropriately, while also responding to internal calls from staff/patients in a timely and professional manner. The switchboard operators monitor hospital-wide paging and phone extensions to ensure that all are working & stable, and ensure a timely response to any noted issues (eg Switchboard alarms, faulty extensions).
The switchboard operators ensure that all emergency and disaster management functions, including emergency phone (2222) and Building Management System (BMS) alarms are managed & actioned efficiently to ensure the necessary staff respond accordingly.
What you bring
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a busy environment with limited supervision.
- Effective communication, telephone, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise/deal with people at all levels.
- Demonstrated computer skills, particularly as they relate to switchboard operation.
