The Position

St John of God Accord is a division of St John of God Health Care dedicated to providing support to people with intellectual disabilities. The overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for clients through the development and provision of support options that are aligned to the personal ambition and need of each client.

A vacancy currently for a Music Therapist (Grade 1 or Grade 2) to join our supportive Therapy Services team and provide clinical music therapy services to our clients/patients.

Our Music Therapists use evidence based clinical practice skills consisting of patient assessments, planning, organisation and delivery of prescribed therapy activities. This forms part of the holistic care to influence improvements in health and wellbeing of our patients/clients.

This position will be offered on a permanent part time basis working 30.4 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have;

Grade 1 and 2;

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • A degree in music and postgraduate qualification in music therapy with eligibility for membership and registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide skilled and professional Music Therapy including group therapy, and music therapy in response to sound evaluative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Evidence of First Aid and CPR certification

Additionally a Grade 2 will have;

  • Demonstrable ability to undertake professional supervision and/or mentor junior staff and to promote professional competence and growth in staff.
  • Evidence of ability to act as clinical consultant to staff providing interventions in area of clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and conduct quality improvement activities.
