The Position

St John of God Social Outreach is seeking an Alcohol & Other Drug Management Project Officer to join the South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service (SWCADS). As an Alcohol & Other Drug Management Project Officer, you are to support the facilitation and implementation of Alcohol and Other Drug Management Plans within the South West region. This includes liaising and partnering with a range of government and non-government agencies, professionals and community groups on community action and AOD prevention issues.

Through consultation, you will assist to organise training for professionals, community groups and others to increase their capacity to undertake and evaluate prevention initiatives to address local AOD issues.

This role will be offered on an 18 month fixed term contract, working 76 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community-based prevention and intervention initiatives.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to consult, coordinate and liaise with a range of stakeholders in various contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully engaging with all people in a culturally competent manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing, influencing and reviewing policies, strategies and procedures as they relate to public health issues.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to negotiate solutions to complex problems in a collaborative setting.
  • Possession of a current 'C' Class driver's license.
  • Knowledge of relevant AOD issues in Western Australia.
