St John of God Health Care is one of the largest Catholic providers of health care services in Australia. We operate 24 facilities comprising more than 3,400 hospital beds in Australia, as well as home nursing, disability services and social outreach programs.

St John of God Health Care’s Procurement & Supply Chain department are expanding and require procurement professionals to join our team to assist in providing additional support for our hospitals and services across Australia.

We now have an opportunity for a strategic professional to commence as a Hospital Procurement Director for our St John of God Geelong, Hawkesbury, Richmond and Burwood Hospitals.

The Hospital Procurement Director, being the senior leader responsible for engaging leadership and influencing change, will oversee and lead the proactive management of non-labour expenses within our Geelong, Hawkesbury, Richmond and Burwood Hospitals

A strategic professional with the ability to build highly collaborative relationships with leaders from the loading dock, to the surgery suite and to the board room, you will proactively bridge hospital and group communication gaps serving as the senior level manager for Procurement & Supply Chain for these hospitals.

To be considered for this opportunity it is essential to hold relevant tertiary qualifications in business, science or health related fields in addition to a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior management, leadership or influencing role, preferably with experience in successful Clinician collaboration and relationships.

This is a permanent full time position of 76 hours per fortnight with interstate travel between Victoria and NSW required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualifications in business, science or health related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, capable of creating and achieving a desired future state vision through influence on processes, individual and group goals and systems in a matrix organisational structure.
  • Experience as an effective change agent - able to drive and lead change across the organization.
  • Experience working in medical, pharmacy, or surgical area supplies and capital equipment, as well as, inventory management processes.
  • Demonstrated quality improvement, analytical, and implementation skills with regard to clinical processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to articulate the business context of clinical procurement and supply matters.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation who can work effectively with both direct and indirect (those outside the formal line of authority) teams to accomplish goals and drive accountability.
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a tenacious drive for results, utilising sound project management, organisational, information system and problem solving skills.
