Who are we?

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is a unique cross-border public health service and the largest regional health service between Sydney and Melbourne. We support an outer catchment population of 250,000 throughout North-East VIC and Southern NSW, with a dedicated team of over 2,600 staff. The Opportunity

Albury Wodonga Health requires a Program Lead – Contact Tracing to join our newly formed Local Public Health Unit (LPHU). Work has commenced in appointing support roles and in establishing the LPHU, which is an important stepping stone in the development of a stronger, more decentralised public health system in the AWH Region.

It is anticipated that the transition of the AWH LPHU to take on a broader public health functions beyond Covid-19 and will be a gradual, phased process, with additional functions established over time, with the roles, governance and accountability arrangements for AWH and other local agencies and partners clearly defined.

The Program Lead is responsible for managing, leading and ensuring the delivery of high quality, responsive and evidence-based care that meets professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards in order to optimise health outcomes for the community. The Program Lead is responsible for fostering a positive culture, driving change, a safe working environment and the effective utilisation of financial resources within a cycle of continuous service improvement.

This is a leadership position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of daily operational clinical expertise and leadership, management of staff operational issues, induction and orientation of new staff, training, as well as, administrative requirements within the Contact Tracing Team.

The Program Lead will work with the Team Leaders of the Contact Tracing Program to ensure that through triaging and allocation of new referrals to clinicians ensuring appropriate workloads and throughputs. The Program Lead will be accountable to ensure that leadership and expertise in supporting staff conducting case and contact interviews in order to establish acquisition links, identify high risk and sensitive settings and provide public health recommendations. The Program Lead will work closely with the Team Leaders to ensure AWH are providing health monitoring and support to people at risk of severe COVID-related illness, throughout their infectious period.

The Program Lead will work closely with the Operational Manager PHU in the development and operation of a high functioning public health unit, to improve the health of the Albury Wodonga Region community.
