STATUS: Part Time, Parental Leave Relief roles

HOURS: Two positions - 48.0 & 24.0 hours per fortnight

Two positions have arisen for skilled Nurses with acute and/or surgical nursing experience to work in our Day Procedure Unit for a fixed term. Applications are open to both Registered and Enrolled nurses for these parental leave coverage roles. 

The Position:

In this role you will provide high standards of patient care through all aspects of the Day Procedure Unit (DPU) as reflected in the standards, guidelines and policy statements of the Australian Confederation of Operating Room Nurse's (ACORN). Key responsibilities include performing nursing care in a competent, compassionate and professional manner, providing effective clinical handovers and providing quality education to patients and families. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a new role, develop your skills in this area and gain exposure to the broader perioperative unit operations.

The Department:

The Day Procedure Unit is incorporated within our Perioperative Unit in addition to the 2 theatres, CSSD Department and Pre-Admission Clinic. The Perioperative Unit provides a full range of services for both local and visiting specialists including General surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Endoscopy and Dental.

What you need:

To perform this role you need to demonstrate competence in acute and/or surgical nursing, the ability to provide compassionate and person-centred care, have a good understanding of the principles of looking after a post-operative patient and have the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in surgical or perioperative nursing is highly desirable.
