Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south-west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care.

Our services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

The opportunity:

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Grade 2 and Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join our fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team to ensure client's needs are assessed and met from an Occupational Therapy perspective

You will work within our Acute Inpatient Unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

About the role:

  • Permanent part time or full time position, OT Grade 2
  • Fixed Term (3 months) part time position, OT Grade 3
  • Develop and coordinate a therapeutic activities programme for clients with a range of mental health diagnoses
  • Undertake ongoing quality improvement initiatives to ensure the best outcomes for clients
  • Access to discipline-specific supervision and support through the network of occupational therapists within the service


  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Excellent knowledge, skills and understanding of evidence-based OT specific assessments and interventions in mental health clinical practice
  • Energy, initiative and a passion to work in the mental health arena
  • Ability to think and act in a person-centred, recovery orientated manner
  • Highly developed communication and organisational skills
