Are you an experienced Mental Health Clinician who wants to help mental health consumers in times of crisis? Come and join our caring and compassionate team working shifts in both the Acute Care Team and the State-Wide Mental Health Telephone Access Line (SMHTAL) providing a point of care and contact for mental helath consumers in the community.

What you'll be doing

Plan, coordinate and deliver high quality acute mental health and drug & alcohol care to consumers consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.
The role involves telephone triage and community based assessment and risk management of consumers with mental health concerns. The position is temporary part time and is required to work as part of a 24 hour seven (7) day a week rotating roster.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW health Service Professionals (State) Award and discipline registration requirements OR tertiary qualifications in Nursing, and registered with AHPRA; OR tertiary qualifications in Psychology with a minimum four-year degree with a major in Psychology and registration with the Psychologists Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated core competency skills in Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol interventions in the community and experience in providing comprehensive mental health and drug & alcohol assessments.
  3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with people with an acute mental illness or disorder as well as problems associated with significant drug and alcohol use.
  5. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience.
  6. Demonstrated computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
  8. Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence.
