To assist and support the Northern Territory (NT) Redress Coordination Team in the provision of
services to support the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the Scheme).
Context Statement: The establishment of the Scheme was recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional
Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Scheme is intended to acknowledge people who experienced child sexual abuse in
an institutional setting and to recognise past wrongs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the request for information process for the Scheme’s NT Group ensuring research and data collection is
- Provide best practice training, advice and support regarding trauma informed care strategies, with a focus on reducing
- Support eligible survivors to access high quality counselling and psychological care and direct personal response
- Collect and report on both qualitative and quantitative data relating to operation of the Scheme within the NT.
- Support the implementation of the Scheme through developing and maintaining practices and procedures.
- Maintain and support collaborative relationships with the Scheme Operator, stakeholder groups, government agencies
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
1. A degree or equivalent qualification in psychology, social work, mental health nursing or associated field.
2. Demonstrated experience providing culturally informed case-management to those with complex trauma.
3. Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, including report writing, the ability to liaise effectively
with others, act with tact and diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality.
4. Demonstrated experience providing training to others in the principles of Trauma Informed Care and the issues
impacting survivors of complex trauma, or similar.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a pressured and sensitive environment.
6. Demonstrated computer literacy skill including experience in various office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook and mainframe packages including databases.
