Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC) is an independent, not-for-profit consumer research centre established by the Victorian Government in 2016 to drive policy and practice changes to benefit consumers. CPRC is on a mission to reimagine markets, making them fairer, safer, and more inclusive for all consumers.

CPRC is partnering with the Victorian Government to support vulnerable households to access the new $250 Power Saving Bonus (PSB). The PSB was introduced by the Victorian Government to support eligible households to manage the cost of their energy bills from spending more time at home during the pandemic.

CPRC are currently looking for 4 PSB Outreach Officers to join their team commencing ASAP and continuing for 7 weeks until 31 March 2021. The role will involve working off site at the public housing high rises in Fitzroy, Collingwood, and other locations, assisting tenants to apply for the Victorian Government energy grant on behalf of tenants. The role is being recuruited on a part time, 4 days per week.

About the role:
  • Check each applicant’s documentation (energy bills and concession cards, etc.) and use the Victorian Government’s online Outreach Portal to apply for PSB payments on behalf on high rise tenants
  • Engage with high rise tenants to manage queues and ensure social distancing and adherence to the COVID safe plan
  • Provide information to tenants on the program and clearly communicate the application process, including documentation required to apply for the PSB
  • Support the Education and Training Manager to manage the delivery of the program
About you
  • Ideally you will be currently between jobs and be able to start straight away
  • Experience in data entry, administration or retail where you are working in a fast-paced environment would be ideal
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English and a preference to speak one of the following community languages:
  • Vietnamese
  • Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin/Hakka)
  • Somali
  • Arabic
  • Oromo
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills and an ability to quickly extract key information from energy bills and concession cards
  • Ability to provide simple communications to diverse groups within the community
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable and low-income households, would be an advantage
There is a possibility that these roles may be extended beyond 31 March for 12 months, subject to further government funding.
