The Opportunity

We currently have a full time position available for a Senior Clinical Dietician. This role is an advisory role to food services in provision of menu formation and review, diet supplements, and appropriate meals to support the patients in their nutritional status are central to this role. The Senior Clinical Dietician- Team leader is also responsible for allocating workloads to Dieticians in team, coordinating the student dietician placement programs and liaises with University Coordinators.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited):

  • Ability to build relationships with nursing staff, allied health staff, support services staff and medical teams.
  • Demonstrates expertise in the clinical areas allocated modelling knowledge and evidence based practice.
  • Timely assessment and dietetic consultation of patients in conjunction with medical staff and allied health.
  • Completes complex assessments and implements appropriate interventions.
  • Timely follow-up, nutritional assessment, nutrition care plans and appropriate SGA as per policy.
  • Education and counselling of patients on therapeutic diets with follow through of discharge arrangements as appropriate.
  • Daily maintenance of activity statistics on Excel.
  • Communication or instruction to nutrition assistants, diet chef or diet aides regarding patient needs when required.
  • Conduct education sessions as required to clinical staff, patients and carers as appropriate.
  • Act as a resource for specialty dietetic areas covered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and collaborates with the Food Services team
  • An active participant/ member of the relevant committees.
  • Other duties as determined by the Director of Clinical Services

The Skills and Experience Required:

  • Qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Dietician with at least 5 or more years of dietetic experience.
  • Eligibility for membership to the Dietetics Association of Australia (DAA) APD and member of DAA.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge in a broad range of clinical areas including the area of nutrition support.
  • Evidence of involvement in quality improvement programs.
  • Highly developed written and verbal skills.
  • Well-developed computer skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, communication and problem- solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills.

Essential requirements

  • In accordance to guidelines set by NSW Health, all SVPHS employees are required to have up to date vaccinations before commencement. It is encouraged that you ensure your vaccinations are current ahead of time as you may be requested to provide documentation at interview stage.
  • Criminal record checks will be conducted and will form part of the selection criteria for this role.
