Curis Recruitment is currently working with a fantastic health and well-being organisation to help find them their next outstanding Mental Health Counsellor/Social Worker to join their growing team!

This position is well suited to you if you have strong mental health experience as either a psychologist, social worker, counsellor or registered nurse.

You will be working for an organisation that offers free health services across the North West and West of Tasmania. Our client was developed as a means to responding to unmet health and well-being needs of the community.

As the Counsellor/Social Worker you will be responsible for the management and provision of mental health services to individuals and families, as well as the execution of workshops and presentations. This will be in conjunction with our clients stepped care model addressing Mental illnesses and other diseases.

Some key responsibilities of the role will include:
Delivering counselling and support services to people and families suffering mental health issues – including individual, group and family counselling.
Providing education, support and activities to individuals and groups in the community with an emphasis on high-risk communities, including children.
Answering phone calls and enquiries regarding available programmes and services.
Issuing treatment referrals.
Liaising with various third party agencies including community agencies and organisations.
Administering mental health programs.

You will be working in a beautiful town far in the north-west coast of Tasmania. The town has a very friendly community feel that tends to capture people with its singular charm. The town is surrounded by scenic views of lush green fields and has plenty to do in-town with nearby attractions.

To be eligible for this position you must have:
Relevant tertiary degree in behavioural or social science, psychology and/or counselling.
Specific expertise in relationship, trauma informed practise & mental health counselling
Extensive counselling experience would suit – ideally working with men and couples, families and children.
An established awareness of child development, child protection, mandatory reporting, suicide prevention/ intervention and family violence issues.
A thorough understanding of challenges within remote and rural communities.
