Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
Improve the health of the people of Western Sydney by contributing to a program of work for an identified population health priority, in line with the Western Sydney Local Health District goals and principles.

The HCI Health Promotion Officer (HPO) will work within a team to implement components of the Healthy Children Initiative (including but not limited to Go4Fun, Munch & Move, Life Live Well @ School, and Family Day Care programs) in a defined geographic area.

The position will be involved in all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and ongoing management and sustainability of these programs to facilitate the adoption of Key Practices to achieve program Key Performance Indicators.

Selection Criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications at graduate level or above in: population health, health promotion, public health or other health related areas
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of best practice interventions (especially in the area of childhood obesity)
  • Demonstrated effective organisational skills, problem solving skills and computer skills
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to conduct public presentations and facilitate groups)
  • Understanding of issues that impact on service delivery in relation to social disadvantage, Aboriginal and CALD communities
  • Demonstrated experience in working as part of a team and developing and maintaining partnerships, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross cultural context, particularly with members of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse communities.
  • Hold a current driver's license valid in Australia and willingness to use for work purposes
